Live wallpaper - dope & anime

So, I've been using this app called Live wallpaper - dope & anime, made by Jelly Dev, for a few months now. It's basically a wallpaper app that gives you access to a huge collection of animated backgrounds and wallpapers. You can find almost anything from cool abstract designs to really high-quality anime scenes. The app first launched back in 2019, and you can grab it for free from the Google Play Store. I think it's also on the App Store, but I use Android, so I'm mostly talking about the Google Play version. Last I checked, it had over 10 million installs, which is pretty impressive for a wallpaper app. The best part is that you don't need to register or sign up to just browse and download stuff. Most of the wallpapers are free to download and install, but there are some premium ones that you have to pay for through in-app purchases. There are also a few ads, but they're not too annoying compared to other apps I've tried.

Using the app is super straightforward. When you open it, you see a grid of thumbnails, and you can just scroll through and tap on any wallpaper you like. Once you find one, you hit the download button, and it saves to your phone. Then you can set it as your home screen or lock screen directly from the app. A tip I figured out is to use the search bar to find specific anime characters or themes, rather than just browsing the main feed. It saves a ton of time. I also found that the live wallpapers work best if you disable battery optimization for the app, otherwise they might freeze up after a while.

Compared to other similar apps on the Google Play Store like Wallcraft or Zedge, I actually prefer Live wallpaper - dope & anime. Zedge has a ton of ringtones and stuff that I don't need, and Wallcraft feels a bit cluttered. This app is more focused on the anime and cool aesthetic wallpapers, which is exactly what I look for. The app is a bit niche, but if you're into anime or just want your phone to look a bit more lively, it's a solid choice.

I can find wallpapers from shows like Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, or Jujutsu Kaisen, and even some really niche ones that aren't that popular. The resolution is always great on my phone, and the animations are smooth, not choppy.
• ⚡ Another standout for me is the smooth performance. Some live wallpaper apps I've tried in the past, like Walli or Muzei, really drain the battery or slow down my phone. I haven't noticed any lag or major battery drain with this app, even with the most animated wallpapers. It seems to be optimized well for different Android versions.
• 🌙 You can also customize the animations in some cases. For example, some wallpapers have settings that let you adjust the speed of the animation or the background color. That's not something you see in every live wallpaper app. Most of them just let you set it and forget it. This makes each wallpaper feel a bit more personal.

• 💾 The app lets you preview the live wallpaper before you download it. This is a small thing, but it saves you from downloading something that looks terrible on your phone's home screen. Other apps I've used, like AmoledPix, don't have a preview feature, and it's annoying.

• 📢 There are ads, and they sometimes pop up right when you're in the middle of browsing. It's not a dealbreaker, but it disrupts the flow. Apps like Wallcraft have fewer ads, or at least they're placed better.
• 📱 The app can occasionally crash when you try to download a wallpaper. It doesn't happen often, maybe once every few weeks, but it's annoying when you find the perfect wallpaper and hit download, only for the app to freeze. Other apps like Zedge are more stable in my experience.
• 💳 Some of the best wallpapers are locked behind a paywall. I get that the developer needs to make money, but the free collection is a bit limited if you want really high-end stuff. Apps like Kustom Live Wallpaper have more free customization options.
